Mental Toughness
“Tennis is a mental game. Everyone is fit, everyone hits great forehands and backhands.” – Novak Djokovic

Life is full of competition. Sports simply allow us to watch it play out in a clear way. Tennis's 1-on-1 nature is the purest form of competition, and encompasses psychology, strategy, and self-discipline.
When two similarly-skilled opponents walk onto a court, they both experience the same pressures, demands, and decisions. What makes the difference? The mind.
Psychology, strategy, and self-discipline (aka “mental toughness”) are learned throughout one’s competitive career, and then relied upon during important moments.
Dr. Jim Loehr
As a boy, Trent first began studying the cerebral side of the game through teachings of renowned sports-psychologist Dr. Jim Loehr.
Later in life, he studied at Dr. Loehr’s legendary L.G.E. Performance Institute and continued to further build and sharpen these skills throughout his time at I.M.G. Academy.
Mental conditioning became a tenant of Trent's playing career and was the deciding factor in many close matches. As a coach, he helps students develop these same intangible skills which can have a critical impact during competition.

While in competition against some of the best athletes in the world, he won the IMG/Bollettieri Academy’s “Mental Conditioning” Award. (This academy-wide award was only given out to two players annually.)

Establishing himself as an elite competitor on the court, his first priority has always been to treat others with respect, compassion, and class.
